What is effective article writing? I would say articles that fulfill the needs of your reader. This is often the hardest thing for people to do in the beginning. In my many years in sales I was taught, ” Sell the sizzle, not the sausage”.
What is in it for me?
Your reader wants to know why this idea or product relates to a problem they have? Also how will this product solve their problem, sometimes needing to make them aware they even have a problem?
Expand on the benefits to them.
You need to explain this at least twice and most of all in none technical or jargon writing. It is easy to slip into terms that mean nothing to people. If you make the person think they are stupid for not understanding they will just switch off and go elsewhere. Effective article marketing has to be in simple language that anyone can understand, that is if you ever want to make any money out of it.
Do not explain too much
I often see new article writers writing really long articles, they probably slaved over for hours, which really are two or three articles together. It might seem a good idea, but people only skim, they want quick easily digested points. They will come back for more from you if they need more.
Finally come to the point!
It is amazing how often you read a great article and at the end I think, what where they promoting. Long articles I notice often go this way, they seem to ramble on. You are writing to get the reader to act in a way you want. So a conclusion to set the ground for your pitch in the resource box can make the pitch less of a shock.
If you follow these four points you should find it easier to structure your articles to both interest your reader and inform them. Also you get traffic that is aware you are sending them to a web site with a purpose. Targeted and informed traffic will be far more likely to buy, getting them products that will solve their problems and improving your bank balance.
